Repast literally means "meal". A meal has been offered for centuries to people traveling a long distance to visit with families or friends.

People have traveled great distances to attend funeral for many years. It used to be the norm to travel, then for a while, families settled in the same area. Today with out mobile society people are again traveling distances to attend funerals, weddings and other special family events or holidays. A good deal of the families we serve rarely get to see each other except at these "special events" in our lives.

Many people believe these family members and friends who travel, or take time out from their busy schedule to attend funeral should be fed before they return home. Again, many people who have repasts do not want them to turn into parties, while others do.
